The BGC School of Women's Ministries can enable you to minister with confidence and competence.

Our Mission:

The mission of the School of Women's Ministries is to train leaders to advance God's kingdom through the church by motivating, equipping, and activating women to minister effectively to women, the church, and the world.

Our Vision:

The vision is confident, competent, compassionate, courageous, and committed women fulfilling Christ's mission and changing the world through their fruitful ministries to women.

Why Training?

Most church women's ministries leaders have little or no training for the job. As a result, they often feel unskilled and inept in their ministries. Because of family responsibilities and time and financial constraints, many women in leadership are unable to seek out formal Bible College or seminary training. If the church is to fulfill Christ's mission, women - usually the majority of a congregation - want and need excellent training to increase their competence and confidence in ministry.

Affordable, Accessible and Applicable:

The School of Women's Ministries is designed to put significant training within the reach of most women. Six units of quality instruction are offered three Saturdays annually over a period of two years. To strengthen the learning experience, practical assignments augment classroom work. A seventh unit involves an internship in women's ministries in her church.

Certification:

Students attending the six classroom units and successful completing all assignments and an internship are certified as a Women's Ministries Specialist. Women not seeking certification may audit classes for a fee.
Assignments are graded on a simple pass/complete or fail/incomplete basis.

Curriculum:

Unit 1: Foundations of Women's Ministries/ Leadership Qualifications and Qualities
Unit 2: Meeting Women's Needs in Jesus' Name
Unit 3: Organizational Theory and Practice/Discovering and using Spiritual Gifts
Unit 4: What Christians Believe
Unit 5: Studying and Teaching Truth
Unit 6: Private and Public Communication Skills/ Specialization Electives
Unit 7: Internship

Tuition & Fees:

Tuition is $50 per person per unit (except for Unit 7). This covers one Saturday's classroom instruction, mentor's input, lunch and coffee breaks. Cost of textbooks and other learning tools is not included. The auditing fee is $40 per unit per person, which includes classroom instruction, lunch and coffee breaks. The registrar must receive the tuition / audit fee for each unit two weeks prior to that unit's class date. Students may miss no more than two units of on-site classroom instruction to maintain enrollment in the school. A reduction of $10 (covering food costs) from the standard tuition or auditing fee is allowed to students who must miss a day's classes; the reminder of the fee must be paid to maintain enrollment in the school.

Women who are not members of the Baptist General Conference are cordially invited and welcome to attend the School of Women's Ministries. Class content, except for a brief section of Unit 1, is non-denominational in scope.
